During Your Male Breast Reduction Surgery
Dr. Davis performs male breast reduction surgery at The Atrium, a specialty operating facility at Centennial Hospital. General anesthesia will be used for this surgery. Gynecomastia surgery usually takes around 2 and a half hours. Most clients go home the same day as the procedure. Make sure you arrange adequate transportation after your surgery as you will not be able to drive yourself home.
Male Breast Reduction Recovery
Bandages will be applied to your incisions and elastic bandages or special garments used to minimize swelling and promote healing. You may need to have drains placed to help remove excess blood and fluids.
You will need to rest for about a week after surgery. During this time, take care not to use your chest muscles or strain your body. After about 2 weeks, you will be able to resume moderate activity. Most clients will return to their typical routines at 6 weeks post-surgery. However, keep in mind that this is different for everyone. Listen to your body and Dr. Davis’ post-procedure guidelines.

You may notice a difference right away, but it will take time to be able to see what your chest will look like. Although individual healing times vary, the majority of swelling and bruising should fade about 6 weeks after surgery, with continued improvements for up to 6 months.
