Breast reduction continues to rise in popularity, with a 54% increase in the last 4 years, according to new data from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. While there are many reasons for this spike in the number of requests for breast reduction surgery, the benefits of this procedure speak for themselves.
If you are considering this procedure but aren’t quite sure if you could be a good candidate, take a look at these four telltale signs that you could benefit from a breast reduction.
1. You Have Neck, Back or Shoulder Pain
The added weight of overly large breasts often causes neck, back and/or shoulder pain over time. Some women notice painful indents in their skin on the tops of their shoulders from their bra straps due to the size of their breasts. Breast reduction can help by reducing the extra weight and strain placed on your spine and shoulders.
2. Your Posture Is Negatively Impacted
Similarly, very large breasts can cause you to walk and stand with your back slightly arched, in an attempt to offset the downward weight of your breasts. This poor posture can lead to back pain and can make normal daily activities difficult.
3. Physical Activity Is Uncomfortable
You might find yourself opting out of exercise or sports just because of discomfort caused by overly large breasts, not because you don’t enjoy these activities.
4. You Have Trouble Finding Clothes That Fit Right
Very large breasts can make it difficult to find properly fitting bras and other clothing. If you find yourself limited in the types of shirts and bras you can wear, you might be a good candidate for breast reduction.
